The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
