Therefore continue to give warning, for by the grace of your Lord, you are not a soothsayer or a madman. 29 Do they say: "He is a poet for whom we expect an adverse turn of fortune?" 30 Say: 'Wait if you will; I shall be waiting with you' 31 Is it their minds that bid them [to take] this [attitude] - or are they [simply] people filled with overweening arrogance? 32 Or do they say, "He has invented it himself"? Indeed, they are not willing to believe. 33 So let them bring a discourse like it, if they are truthful 34 Or were they created of themselves? Or are they the creators? 35 Have they created the heavens and the earth? In fact, they have no strong faith. 36 [How could they?] Are thy Sustainer's treasures with them? Or are they in charge [of destiny]? 37 Do they have a ladder (by which they can climb up to the heavens) and listen (to the angels) and come back to the rest of the people with clear authority? 38 Or has He daughters while you have sons? 39 Or is it that you (O Muhammad SAW) ask a wage from them (for your preaching of Islamic Monotheism) so that they are burdened with a load of debt? 40 Do they possess knowledge of the unseen, so that they can write it down? 41 Or do they intend a plan? But those who disbelieve - they are the object of a plan. 42 Do they have any god other than Allah? Exalted be Allah above whatever they associate (with Him in His Divinity). 43 Even if they were to see a part of the heavens falling down upon them, they would say, "It is only dense cloud". 44 Then let them be (O Muhammad), till they meet their day, in which they will be thunder-stricken, 45 when their stratagem shall be of no avail to them, nor shall they be succoured. 46 Truly, for those who do wrong there is a punishment besides that, though most of them do not know it. 47 Await the judgement of your Lord, for you are always before Our eyes, and glorify your Lord with praises when you rise, 48 And proclaim His Purity during the night, and when the stars turn back. 49
