The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
