The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The time of people's reckoning has drawn near, and yet they turn aside in heedlessness. 1 There cometh not unto them a fresh admonition from their Lord but they listen to it while they are playing. 2 their hearts are distracted and forgetful. The wrongdoers confer together secretly, saying, "Is not this man a mortal like you? Will you succumb to magic with your eyes open?" 3 Say, "My Lord knows every word spoken in the heavens and on the earth. He is All Hearing, All Knowing." 4 Yet they say: "These are only confused dreams," or rather: "He has invented them;" or: "He is only a poet. Let him therefore bring a miracle to us as the earlier (apostles) were sent with." 5 There did not believe before them any town which We destroyed, will they then believe? 6 And We sent not before you, [O Muhammad], except men to whom We revealed [the message], so ask the people of the message if you do not know. 7 We had not made them such bodies that would not eat any food nor were they immortal. 8 Then We made Our promise good to them and delivered whomsoever We pleased, and destroyed the transgressors. 9 Now, We have sent down to you a Book in which is your Remembrance. Will you not understand? 10
