A group of his people who disbelieved him and had called the Day of Judgment a lie and whom We had made prosperous in this life, said, "He is a mere mortal like you. He eats and drinks as you do. 33 And if you obey a mortal like yourselves, then most surely you will be losers: 34 What, does he promise you that when you are dead, and become dust and bones, you shall be brought forth? 35 ۞ How far-fetched what you are promised; 36 There is no life beyond our life in this world: we die and we live [but once,] and we shall never be raised from the dead! 37 "He is only a man who invents a lie against Allah, but we are not the ones to believe in him!" 38 He said, “My Lord! Help me as they deny me.” 39 Answered (the Lord): "They shall wake up repenting soon." 40 And the Cry seized them in justice and We made them withered. So begone with the harmdoing nation. 41 Then after them, We created other generations. 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 And We sent forth Our apostles, one after another: [and] every time their apostle came to a community, they gave him the lie: and so We caused them to follow one another [into the grave,] and let them become [mere] tales: and so - away with the folk who would not believe! 44 AND THEN We sent forth Moses and his brother Aaron with Our messages and a manifest authority [from Us] 45 To Pharaoh and his nobles who behaved with arrogance, for they were a conceited lot, 46 They said: "Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves when their people are slaves to us?" 47 So they rejected them both, and became those who were destroyed. 48 And certainly We gave Musa the Book that they may follow a right direction. 49 And We made the son of Maryam (Prophet Eisa) and his mother a sign, and We gave them shelter on a height, a place to stay and visible springs. 50
