And when thy Lord called Moses, saying: Go unto the wrongdoing folk, 10 the nation of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Me' 11 He said: My Lord! Lo! I fear that they will deny me, 12 And that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron. 13 They have charged me [with a crime] for which I am afraid they will kill me." 14 Allah said: "Nay! Go you both with Our Signs. Verily! We shall be with you, listening. 15 “Therefore approach Firaun then proclaim, ‘We both are Noble Messengers of the Lord Of The Creation.’ 16 [Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel."'" 17 (Pharaoh) said: "Did we not cherish thee as a child among us, and didst thou not stay in our midst many years of thy life? 18 You spent many years of your life among us and then you committed that deed of yours. You are very ungrateful indeed." 19 Moses said: "I did it then, when I was in error. 20 “I therefore went away from you as I feared you – so my Lord commanded me and appointed me as one of the Noble Messengers.” 21 And this is the favor with which you oblige me: You have made the Israelites your slaves. 22 Firon said: And what is the Lord of the worlds? 23 He said: The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure. 24 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Do you not hear (what he says)?" 25 [And Moses] continued: "[He is] your Sustainer, [too,] as well as the Sustainer of your forefathers of old!" 26 Said he: Most surely your Apostle who is sent to you is mad. 27 He said: Lord of the east and the west and whatsoever is in-between, if ye understand. 28 Pharaoh said: "If you take any god other than me, I will certainly make you one of those (who are rotting) in prison." 29 Moses asked, "What if I were to bring you clear proof (of the existence of God)?" 30 (Pharaoh) said: Produce it then, if thou art of the truthful! 31 Thereupon [Moses] threw down his staff - and lo! it was a serpent, plainly visible; 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo, it looked white to the beholders. 33
