The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
