He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
