The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 But save him who fears 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded 19 but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest: 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
