And (remember) Noah, when he supplicated to Us, We answered him, and We saved him and his nation from great distress, 76 and helped him against the nation who had belied Our signs. They were an evil nation; We drowned them all. 77 And David and Solomon, when they gave judgment concerning the field, when people's sheep had strayed and browsed therein by night; and We were witnesses to their judgment. 78 To Solomon We inspired the (right) understanding of the matter: to each (of them) We gave Judgment and Knowledge; it was Our power that made the hills and the birds celebrate Our praises, with David: it was We Who did (all these things). 79 And We taught him the art of making garments (of mail) to protect you in your daring. Are ye then thankful? 80 To Solomon the raging wind ran at his command to the land which We had blessed. We have knowledge of all things. 81 And of the rebellious people there were those who dived for him and did other work besides that, and We kept guard over them; 82 ۞ We bestowed (the same wisdom, judgement and knowledge) upon Job. Recall, when he cried to his Lord: "Behold, disease has struck me and You are the Most Merciful of those that are merciful." 83 We therefore heard his prayer and removed the adversity that had afflicted him, and We gave him his family and in addition bestowed along with them a similar number, by mercy from Ourselves – and an advice for the people who worship. 84 (Remember) Ishmael, Edris and Dhu'l-Kifl. They were men of fortitude, 85 We admitted them to Our mercy. They were all righteous men. 86 And remember Zun-Noon,* when he left in anger, assuming that We would not restrict him – he therefore called out in the realms of darkness, saying, “There is no God except You, Purity is to You; I have indeed committed a lapse.” (* Prophet Yunus – peace and blessings upon him) 87 And so We responded unto him and delivered him from [his] distress: for thus do We deliver all who have faith. 88 And Zakariya, when he cried to his Lord: O my Lord leave me not alone; and Thou art the best of inheritors. 89 So We responded to him, and We gave to him John, and amended for him his wife. Indeed, they used to hasten to good deeds and supplicate Us in hope and fear, and they were to Us humbly submissive. 90 Into the woman who maintained her chastity We breathed Our Spirit and made her and her son a miracle for all people. 91 Indeed this religion of yours, is one religion; and I am your Lord, therefore worship Me. 92 But they tore asunder their faith into many parts. But to Us they are bound to return. 93
