The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And extended shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
