Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Say: It has been revealed to me that a company of Jinns listened (to the Qur'an). They said, 'We have really heard a wonderful Recital! 1 ‘That guides to the path of goodness, we have therefore accepted faith in it; and we shall never ascribe anyone as a partner to our Lord.’ 2 ‘And that our Lord’s Majesty is Supreme – He has neither chosen a wife nor a child.’ 3 'There were some foolish ones among us, who used to utter extravagant lies against Allah; 4 'But we do think that no man or spirit should say aught that untrue against Allah. 5 But there were certain men of mankind who would take refuge with certain men of the jinn, and they increased them in vileness, 6 And they had thought, as you thought, that Allah would never send anyone [as a messenger]. 7 And (the Jinn who had listened to the Qur'an said): We had sought the heaven but had found it filled with strong warders and meteors. 8 There, we would sit to eavesdrop, but now an eavesdropper finds a flame in wait for him. 9 'And we understand not whether ill is intended to those on earth, or whether their Lord (really) intends to guide them to right conduct. 10 And some of us are the righteous, and some of us are otherwise; we are sects differing. 11 We realised that we could not weaken the power of God on earth, nor outpace Him by running away. 12 And when we heard the guidance, we believed therein, and whoso believeth in his Lord, he feareth neither loss nor oppression. 13 "'Yet [it is true] that among us are such as have surrendered themselves to God - just as there are among us such as have abandoned themselves to wrongdoing. Now as for those who surrender themselves to Him - it is they that have attained to consciousness of what is right; 14 But as for the unjust, they will be, for Hell, firewood.' 15 And that if they should keep to the (right) way, We would certainly give them to drink of abundant water, 16 "That We might try them by that (means). But if any turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to undergo a severe Penalty. 17 and that “mosques belong to Allah, so do not invoke anyone with Him”; 18 And that when the servant of Allah stood up calling upon Him, they wellnigh crowded him (to death). 19
