The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
