The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
