The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Beneficent Allah, 1 Has taught (you mankind) the Quran (by His Mercy). 2 He created man. 3 He taught him eloquent speech. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 And the plants and the trees prostrate (for Him). 6 He raised the heavens and set up the measure, 7 That you may not be inordinate in respect of the measure. 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 He has laid out the earth for His creatures. 10 In which are fruits, and covered dates. 11 Husked grain and scented herb. 12 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 13 He has created man, from dry ringing clay, like the potter"s, 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 16 The Lord of the Two Easts, the Lord of the Two Wests. 17 Which of the powers of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 18 He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: 19 Between them is a barrier which they cannot pass. 20 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 21 Pearls and corals come from both. 22 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 23 Also, His are the ships that run, raised up like mountains upon the sea. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
