The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
