And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
