The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
