(The tribe of) Thamud rejected warnings 23 So they said: What! a single mortal from among us! Shall we follow him? Most surely we shall in that case be in sure error and distress: 24 How is it that he has received guidance? In fact, he is the most untruthfull and arrogant person". 25 (We told Our Messenger): “Tomorrow they shall know who is the insolent liar. 26 Lo! We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and have patience; 27 Tell them that each one of them has the right to have a certain share of water". 28 But they called to their companion, and he took a sword in hand, and hamstrung (her). 29 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 30 Indeed, We sent upon them one blast from the sky, and they became like the dry twig fragments of an [animal] pen. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 32 The nation of Lot belied Our warnings. 33 Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn 34 A favor from Us; thus do We reward him who gives thanks. 35 And indeed he had warned them of Our seizure – in response they doubted the warnings. 36 they even wanted to seduce his guests -- but We blinded them, and said, "Taste My punishment now that you have scorned My warnings!" -- 37 And early in the morning the decreed punishment came upon them. 38 So have a taste of My chastisement and My warnings. 39 We have made the Koran an easy Remembrance, is there any that will remember! 40
