The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
