The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it descends, 1 Your companion hath not gone astray, nor hath he erred. 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is no less than inspiration sent down to him: 4 taught him by one terrible in power, 5 very strong; he stood poised, 6 And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. 7 then he drew near, and became close 8 Until a space of two bow (arcs) or even less remained, 9 He revealed to God's servant whatever he wanted. 10 The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. 11 Will you then argue with him about what he saw? 12 Indeed he saw him a second time, 13 Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass: 14 Near which is the garden, the place to be resorted to. 15 When that which shroudeth did enshroud the lote-tree, 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest! 18 (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, 19 And Manat the other third? 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 That indeed is a division unfair! 22 They are naught but names yourselves have named, and your fathers; God has sent down no authority touching them. They follow only surmise, and what the souls desire; and yet guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for! 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
