Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha'. Mim. 1 A sending down from the Merciful, the Most Merciful. 2 A Book whose verses have been distinguished and explained, a lucid discourse for people who understand, 3 one bearing good news and warning. Yet most of them turned away and are not wont to give heed. 4 And they say: our hearts are under veils from that whereunto thou callest us, and in our ears there is heaviness, and betwixt us and thee there is a curtain; work thou then, verily we are workers. 5 Say thou, [O Prophet:] "I am but a mortal like you. It has been revealed to me that your God is the One God: go, then, straight towards Him and seek His forgiveness!" And woe unto those who ascribe divinity to aught beside Him, 6 Who give not the poor-rate; and they! in the Hereafter, they are disbelievers. 7 As to those who have faith and do good works, surely theirs shall be a never-ending reward. 8
