The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 Requital corresponding. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
