He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And he feareth 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And olives and palms 29 and dense orchards, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
