The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur'an. 1 Perhaps those who disbelieve will wish that they had been Muslims. 2 Leave them to feast and revel, beguiled by hope; they will come to know soon. 3 And We have not destroyed a town but there was therefor a decree known. 4 No group may advance its appointed promise nor postpone it. 5 They say: 'You to whom the Remembrance is sent down, you are indeed mad. 6 Why do you not bring down the angels, if what you say is true' 7 But then We never send the angels down save with the purpose (of enforcing their doom), after which they will not be given more respite. 8 We have sent down this Exposition, and We will guard it. 9 And certainly We sent (apostles) before you among the nations of yore. 10 And never came there unto them a messenger but they did mock him. 11 So We make it enter the hearts of the sinners. 12 So, they will not believe in it: The example of former people is there. 13 And if We open for them a gate in the heavens, to ascend it through the day – 14 They would say: Our sight is wrong - nay, but we are folk bewitched. 15
