The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the mount 1 and the Book inscribed 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 by the House inhabited 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, 9 and the mountains shudder and shake. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” 14 Is this magic or do you not see? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working. 19 reclining on couches [of happiness] ranged in rows!" And [in that paradise] We shall mate them with companions pure, most beautiful of eye. 20 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ And their boy servants shall go around them, as if they were pearls, safely hidden. 24 They will turn to one another and ask (regarding the past events). 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
