The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 facing one another. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and shade extended, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
