The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
