Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
