Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 I swear by the Book that makes things clear: 2 behold, We have caused it to be a discourse in the Arabic tongue, so that you might encompass it with your reason. 3 And Verily, it (this Quran) is in the Mother of the Book (i.e. Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz), before Us, indeed Exalted, full of Wisdom. 4 Shall We then take away the Message from you and repel (you), for that ye are a people transgressing beyond bounds? 5 But how many were the prophets We sent amongst the peoples of old? 6 And not a prophet came unto them but him they were wont to mock. 7 We therefore destroyed the people who were more forceful than these, and the example of the earlier ones has already gone by. 8 Yet, if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will answer: 'The Almighty, the Knower created them' 9 The One Who made the earth a bed for you, and made roads for you in it, so that you may be guided. 10 And Who sent down water from the sky with a proper measure, so We revived a dead city with it; this is how you will be taken out. 11 And Who hath treated the pairs, all of them, and appointed for you from ships and cattle things whereon ye ride. 12 In order that ye may sit firm and square on their backs, and when so seated, ye may celebrate the (kind) favour of your Lord, and say, "Glory to Him Who has subjected these to our (use), for we could never have accomplished this (by ourselves), 13 “And indeed we have to return to our Lord.” 14 Yet they make some of His servants partners in His divinity. Man is clearly ungrateful! 15
