The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Merciful 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 He created man. 3 He taught him eloquent speech. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning. 5 And the plants and the trees prostrate (for Him). 6 And the sky He hath uplifted; and He hath set the measure, 7 In order that you may not corrupt the balance. 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 On it are fruits and palm-trees with sheathed clusters [of dates], 11 Husked grain and scented herb. 12 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 13 He created man of a clay like the potter's, 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 16 He is the Lord of the East and West through all seasons. 17 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 18 He has let free the two bodies of flowing water, meeting together: 19 In-between the twain is a barrier which they pass not. 20 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 21 Out of these two [bodies of water] come forth pearls, both great and small. 22 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 23 And His are the ships going and coming in the seas, like mountains. 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25
