The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Who will be honoured 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and shade extended, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruits numberless, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
