The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 The closing night, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 When whither go ye? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
