Said the Chiefs of the people of Pharaoh: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed. 109 Who would expel you from your land. Now what do ye advise? 110 They answered: "Let him and his brother wait awhile, and send unto all cities heralds 111 And bring up to thee all (our) sorcerers well-versed." 112 And the enchanters came to Firon (and) said: We must surely have a reward if we are the prevailing ones. 113 He said, 'Yes, indeed; and you shall be among the near-stationed.' 114 They said, "Moses, will you first throw, or shall we?" 115 He said, "Throw," and when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people and struck terror into them, and they presented a great [feat of] magic. 116 And we revealed unto Musa: cast down thy rod. And lo! it was swallowing up that which they had feigned. 117 ۞ Thus truth was confirmed, and all that they did was made of no effect. 118 Thus there and then they were vanquished and overthrown, humiliated. 119 And the magicians were obliged to fall prostrate. 120 They said: We believe in the Lord of the worlds, 121 the Sustainer of Moses and Aaron!" 122 The Pharaoh said to the magicians, "You declared your belief in him (Moses) without my permission. This is a plot to throw my people out of their city. But you will soon know. 123 most certainly shall I cut off your hands and your feet in great numbers, because of [your] perverseness, and then I shall most certainly crucify you, in great numbers, all together!" 124 They answered: "Verily, unto our Sustainer do we turn 125 You only take revenge on us because we believed in the Lord when we saw His miracles. Lord, grant us patience and let us die Muslims (submitted to God)." 126
