Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 no loyal friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
