Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 The honest Spirit (Gabriel) brought it down 193 Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners - 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 And lo! it is in the Scriptures of the men of old. 196 And was this not a sign for them, that the scholars of the Descendants of Israel may recognise this Prophet? 197 And had We revealed it unto any of the non-Arabs, 198 who would have read it to them, they (pagans) would not have believed in it. 199 This is how We have made (the habit of) denying embedded in the hearts of the guilty. 200 they shall not believe in it until they see the painful punishment 201 The torment will strike them suddenly without their knowledge. 202 They will say, "Can we be granted any respite?" 203 Do they really want Our chastisement to be expedited? 204 Then have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years 205 And then the promise that is given to them, does come upon them- 206 All that with which they used to enjoy shall not avail them. 207 Never a city We destroyed, but it had warners 208 By way of reminder, and We have never been unjust. 209 The devils did not bring it down: 210 They are not worthy of it, nor have they power. 211 Truly, they are expelled from hearing. 212 So call on no other god but God, lest you are condemned to torment; 213 And warn thou thy clan, the nearest ones. 214 and lower your wing to the believers who follow you. 215 If they disobey you, say, "I bear no responsibility for what you do." 216 And put thy trust in the Mighty, the Merciful. 217 Who sees you when you stand up. 218 And your movement among those who prostrate. 219 Surely, He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I tell you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They come down on every guilty impostor. 222 They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars. 223 And the astray follow the poets. 224 Seest thou not that they wander distracted in every valley?- 225 And that they say that which they do not do, 226 Except those who believe, and do good works and remember Allah in abundance and became victorious after they had been wronged. The wrongdoers will surely know which turn they will be returning to (Hell). 227
