۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” – 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 Nay, but that Day they shall surrender, 26 And they will advance toward each other mutually questioning. 27 These say, 'Why, you of old would come to us from the right hand.' 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people. 30 Thus, the words of Our Lord about us have come true and now we are suffering the torment. 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant 35 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 Behold, you will indeed taste grievous suffering [in the life to come,] 38 Ye are requited naught save what ye did - 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 In gardens of delight, 43 on couches facing each other. 44 They will be served with a cup full of crystal clear wine, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 He will look down and see him in hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 What then, shall we not die 58 Saving our former death, and are we not to be punished? 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Truly We have made it (as) a trail for the Zalimun (polytheists, disbelievers, wrong-doers, etc.). 63 It is a tree that comes forth in the root of Hell; 64 The fruit thereof is as though the hoods of the serpents. 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 then surely they shall return to Hell. 68 They found their fathers erring, 69 yet they run in their footsteps, 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
