The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
