The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
