The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate

By heaven and the night-star! 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 it is not a jest. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17

True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
