Remember when you set forth in the morning from your house assigning the faithful positions for the battle, God heard everything and knew all. 121 When two of your bands were about to lose heart God befriended them; and in Him should the faithful place their trust. 122 And Allah most assuredly helped you at Badr when you were humiliated. Therefore, fear Allah, in order that you will give thanks to Him. 123 [Remember] when you said to the believers, "Is it not sufficient for you that your Lord should reinforce you with three thousand angels sent down? 124 Rather, if you have patience and are cautious, and they suddenly come against you, your Lord will reinforce you with five thousand marked angels' 125 Allah ordained this only as a message of good cheer for you, and that thereby your hearts might be at rest - Victory cometh only from Allah, the Mighty, the Wise - 126 That He may cut off a part of those who disbelieve, or overwhelm them so that they retire, frustrated. 127 (Muhammad), it is not your concern whether He forgives them or punishes them for they are unjust. 128 Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth belong to God. He forgives whoever He pleases and punishes whoever He pleases. God is most forgiving and ever merciful. 129
