Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
