Ad cried lies to the Envoys 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not take heed? 124 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 "So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I ask no recompense of you; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 127 What, do you build on every prominence a sign, sporting, 128 And take ye for yourselves castles that haply ye may abide. 129 And when ye seize, ye seize like unto tyrants. 130 So fear God, and obey me; 131 "Yea, fear Him Who has bestowed on you freely all that ye know. 132 He has given you cattle, children, 133 "And gardens and springs. 134 I fear the punishment of a terrible day for you. 135 They replied: "It is all the same for us whether you admonish us or not. 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 and we shall not be punished." 138 So they rejected him; and We destroyed them. There is certainly a sign in that; but most of them would not believe. 139 Surely, your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
