The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Rise up and warn! 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 And your garments purify! 4 shun uncleanness; 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons present by his side. 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he thought; 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
