Al-Takweer
The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 Every soul will then come to know what it has brought. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
