The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the books are spread, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
