The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
