Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 in a garden sublime, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
