And Noah verily prayed unto Us, and gracious was the Hearer of his prayer 75 for We saved him and his household from that awesome calamity, 76 and We made his offspring the only survivors. 77 We perpetuated his praise in later generations. 78 Salamun (peace) be upon Nuh (Noah) (from Us) among the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)!" 79 Even so We recompense the good-doers; 80 Surely he was among Our faithful creatures. 81 Afterwards We drowned the others. 82 ۞ And lo! of his persuasion verily was Abraham 83 When he came to his Lord with a pure heart, 84 and asked his father and his people, "What is that you worship? 85 Is it a calumny, gods apart from God, that you desire? 86 What then is your opinion of the Lord of the Worlds? 87 Then he cast a glance at the stars (to deceive them), 88 and he said, 'Surely I am sick.' 89 All the people turned away from him 90 Then did he turn to their gods and said, "will ye not eat (of the offerings before you)?... 91 What aileth ye that ye speak not? 92 Then he started striking them down with his right hand. 93 His people came rushing towards him, 94 Abraham said to them: “Do you worship what you yourselves have carved with your own hands 95 While Allah created you and that which you do?" 96 They said: Build for him a furnace, then cast him into the burning fire. 97 They plotted against him, but We brought humiliation upon them. 98 And [then] he said, "Indeed, I will go to [where I am ordered by] my Lord; He will guide me. 99 Abraham prayed, "Lord, grant me a righteous son". 100 So We gave him the glad tidings of a forbearing boy. 101 And when he reached the age of traveling with him, he said: 'My son, while I was sleeping I saw that I shall slaughter (sacrifice) you, tell me what is your opinion' He replied: 'Father, do as you are ordered (by Allah). Allah willing, you shall find me one of those who are steadfast' 102 And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead, 103 And We called out to him saying: O Ibrahim! 104 You have fulfilled the dream (vision)!" Verily! Thus do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 105 That was indeed a clear trial. 106 We ransomed his son with a great sacrifice 107 And left (his hallowed memory) for posterity. 108 Peace be unto Abraham! 109 Thus do We reward the good. 110 He is truly among Our faithful creatures. 111 We gave Abraham the good news of Isaac, a prophet and a righteous man, 112 And We blessed him and Isaac. Among the offspring of the two some did good and some plainly wronged themselves. 113
