The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the Great News 2 About which they have been differing? 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
