The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
